Cait Caffrey began working as an editorial assistant for Northeast Editing, Inc. in the fall of 2011 before earning the title of content developer/editor two years later. As an editorial assistant, Cait worked with the editorial staff on various educational projects, mainly writing and updating biographical content and other library-reference materials. She also performed basic clerical duties including scanning and logging freelance contracts, accounting for freelance invoices, researching potential clients, and slamming the phone down on telemarketers.
As a content developer/editor, Cait became more involved in the editorial process and began writing fiction and nonfiction passages for educational testing companies and publishers, broadening her knowledge of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and K-12 assessment.
“I love to learn,” Cait said. “I also like to share what I’ve learned with others, and that’s exactly what I’m doing every day.”
Cait has a background in technical writing and journalism. She was editor-in-chief of the King’s College newspaper The Crown as well as an editor of the campus’s literary journal The Scop and briefly interned at the Citizens’ Voice newspaper in Wilkes-Barre. She earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and professional writing in 2010. Before joining Northeast Editing, Inc., she worked at Sallie Mae Loan Services as a technical writer/email representative, educating borrowers about the company’s services.
Outside the office, Cait spends her free time loitering at the local library, practicing Vinyasa yoga, watching TEDtalks, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton, and brushing up on her music history. She dreams of being a passenger on the world’s first commercial spaceflight.
